Well up until about two months into the summer after senior year I had planned to go to college just like everyone else. But then I started thinking if I was really ready for college, so I started talking to my sister and my some of my older friends that had taken a year off between high school graduation and college. Everyone I talked to said it had been a great experience and one that really changed them for the better. Meeting new people, traveling around the world, being on my own, what's not to love, right!? SO, I started looking for opportunities to serve abroad and I came upon a school in Yasothon, Thailand called the Santhitham School:
- We are a Social and Economic Development Project of the Baha'i Foundation of Thailand. Our focus is on education for peace and one world, using a Baha'i approach. We teach nursery, Kindergarten and primary level with a total of 670 students and about 70 staff. -
So the plan now is to serve at the Santhitham School from October to March. Afterwhich I hope to go to Germany/Europe for two weeks and then to finish up, the School of Nations in Brazil for the months of April and May and finally back home for the beginning of summer in June.
Right now I'm in the process of finding tickets, getting visas and immunization shots, researching countries and working hard to raise money. We'll see how it all turns out! :)
